[Video] Hanoi Metro Line Makes Its First Test Run

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Almost.

Earlier this week, Hanoi Metro’s Twitter account shared a short video clip of a test run on the 2a Cat Linh-Ha Dong line. The short clip shows a technical train pulling commercial carriages and is part of an ongoing series of tests.

Earlier this year, Vu Hong Phuong, deputy director of the project’s management board under the Ministry of Transport, told Bao Chinh Phu – the official outlet of the Vietnamese government – that the trial run will start on September 2 this year and continue for three to six months.

Now, officials are saying the full testing period will begin in August, one month earlier than planned. If the tests go well, the line may be operational by the end of the year.

The clip was filmed by local students, who had a great vantage point from a balcony at Hanoi University.
