VietJetAir, Vietnam’s favorite budget airline (take that, JetStar) announced yesterday that it has signed a deal with Airbus, one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers for nearly 100 new jets, according to Reuters.
Seeking to take advantage of SE Aisa’s thriving market, the airline placed a firm order for 63 planes with 30 purchase options and will lease the remainder, airline officials revealed at the Singapore Airshow.

The firm order is of particular note as it:
“…is seen as a strong indication of future revenue for airplane manufacturers and triggers a deposit from airlines. Airlines mainly pay for aircraft when they take delivery and usually win significant discounts for large orders.”
The agreement includes firm orders for 42 A320neo, 14 A320ceo and seven A321ceo aircraft.
As roads and trains have been slow to meet demand as Vietnam develops, air carriers represent the best option for efficient travel in Vietnam (for those who can afford it).
Now they just have to figure out where to park them.
