Future Saigon: Saigon Green Energy Tower

Another ambitious project for Saigon’s Võ Văn Kiệt Street is in the works with plans for a 53-story (for reference, the Bitexco Tower is 68 stories) mega project.

The development, which will also include six 38-story high-rises, will be bound by Nguyễn Biểu and Nguyễn Văn Cừ Streets and will provide 1,300 apartments measuring at least 75m2 each in addition to retail on the lower floors, reports REIC.

Though the project’s cost has already ballooned from original estimates (from US$100 million to US$300 million), the developers seem pretty confident about the purchasing power of future residents with Apple, Nike and Armani stores included in the renderings (wishful thinking, perhaps?).

It's unclear why the building has been dubbed the "Green Energy Tower" as there is no information alluding to any focus on renewable or eco-friendly components, but perhaps they will come to light closer to the project's kick-off.

Based on Google Maps imagery of the site, it looks like most of the land has been cleared and should be good-to-go for the 2015 scheduled start date.
