The summit that will be held on May 12 is expected to draw over 800 attendees including senior government officials, speakers, entrepreneurs and social activists, many of whom appeared on the Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list, reports Voice of Vietnam. Perry herself made her way onto the magazine’s "Top-Earning Women In Music" list from 2011 – 2013.

Perry will join the event at the GEM Centre in her capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, a position that she’s held since 2013.

At a press briefing in Saigon yesterday afternoon, a UNICEF representative said that the singer is expected to “talk to Vietnamese young people and encourage them to discuss their future plans and raise their voice in important matters,” writes Thanh Nien.

To the dismay of many, Perry is not scheduled to perform at any point during her trip. Though that may change if enough people show up to the airport in Egyptian garb and shark costumes.
