Forget taxis; Saigoneers may soon be able to avoid congestion on the ground by flying into town from the airport.
Following successful test flights earlier this year, the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company (VHS South) recently signed an agreement with the Times Square Investment Joint Stock Company to offer a helicopter shuttle service, reports Zing.
Accordingly, travelers who would like to escape from Saigon's frustrating traffic jams can soon hop on a short flight between the Times Square Tower on Nguyen Hue and Tan Son Nhat International Airport. An Airbus EC-155B1 will be deployed for the service, carrying a maximum of two pilots and 12 passengers.
In its initial stage, the service will target Times Square Tower's management bodies, customers staying at the high-end Reverie Saigon Hotel and other wealthy consumers. While prices are yet to be determined, an aviation expert estimated that one trip may cost as much as US$10,000, according to VnExpress.
In the future, VHS South is also hoping to expand its business to other locations in Saigon, which is currently home to 10 helipads atop skyscrapers.
