The southern hub may soon be getting its own solar panel manufacturing facility as a long-ignored project is set to take on a new investor this summer.

According to Dau Tu Online, the project once belonging to American investor First Solar will soon be revived. The US$1.2 billion endeavor originally launched in 2011 but was later abandoned due to what the investor referred to as low global demand for its product.

Now, however, a new investor is in town. Though Tran Viet Ha, chief of investment at the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, will not disclose the name of the party involved. Still, it's exciting to see green energy coming to Vietnam.
