Saigon Welcomes Dedicated 'Jewelry Street' in District 5

In another effort to enhance the city’s image, Saigon authorities have greenlit the establishment of a jewelry street in District 5.

According to Tuoi Tre, District 5’s Nhieu Tam, Nghia Thuc and Bui Huu Nghia Streets will be transformed into the city’s first official jewelry street on April 27. Visitors to the area will be able to buy gemstones and jewels, in addition to learning about the process of making the goods.

Nguyen Vo Xuan Ky, chief of the District 5 People’s Committee office, said that apart from commercial benefits, the jewelry street will help to preserve the cultural heritage of old Sai Gon – Cho Lon, where residents are famous for their craftsmanship in gold and other precious metals, reports Tuoi Tre.

The news source also shares that services, including brand logos and uniforms, will be standardized, while new parking spaces for large buses will also be built. CCTV cameras have already been installed in the area. Additionally, District 5 authorities have contacted travel companies in order to introduce the jewelry street to foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, starting April 28, District 1’s Alexandre De Rhodes Street will be transformed into a dedicated music venue on weekends and public holidays.
