Vietnam’s Mobile Internet Speeds 2nd Slowest In The World

In order to take advantage of its 4G capabilities, users must order a new SIM from Viettel but will be able to keep their present numbers. According to a company representative, a 4G trial run will be conducted prior to the nationwide rollout.

Viettel also plans to expand its infrastructure through the first quarter of 2016. The ambitious move will bring the company’s coverage stations to a total of 90,000, ensuring that 95% of the population will have access to mobile data in some form.

This news comes on the heels of a recent report by global technology firm Ericsson, which found Vietnam's mobile internet to be the slowest is Southeast Asia. With a growing 3G market of nearly 30 million users, demand for mobile coverage is on the rise, forcing mobile providers to improve their services in this highly competitive market space.
