Vietnamese Education Startup Receives $9m in Funding

Yet another Vietnamese education app is raking in the investment money, as tutoring service GotIt! recently announced US$9 million in seed and series A funding.

The Silicon Valley-based app, created by Dr. Tran Viet Hung, acts as a private tutoring service for students struggling in math, chemistry and physics, reports Deal Street Asia. When a learner is confused, he or she snaps a photo of the problem, uploads it to the app and is then connected to an expert who must provide both the answer and an explanation regarding how to solve the problem.

American capital fund Capricorn Investment Group and Hong Kong-based Fosun Group each contributed to the app's new round of funding. Moving forward, GotIt! plans to expand the app's services, offering expertise in social sciences and communications in addition to hiring more Vietnamese staff to keep the service running 24 hours a day.

GotIt! is currently one of the five most downloaded education apps in the United States.
