According to a recent report, Vietnam's internet environment ranks 32nd out of 75 countries.
The report, titled the 2017 Inclusive Internet Index, was carried out by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which studied the internet environment in 75 different countries as well as the way each nation's citizens approach and use the internet. The index narrows it down to four main criteria: availability, affordability, relevance and readiness.
Overall, Vietnam didn’t do too badly, coming in at 32nd of 75. In Southeast Asia, the country ranks above Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos but loses out to Malaysia, Thailand and the world’s top-ranked internet environment, Singapore.
Vietnam also shares the top position for local content with 13 other countries, including China, Japan and Russia.
The nation did best in relevance, with a global rank of 18. Vietnam charts 32nd and 40th in affordability and availability, respectively, while coming in at 42nd in education and readiness due to a lack of digital literacy and policies.
