While some have claimed ignorance after opening airplane doors, mistaking them for a bathrooms, others, like 28-year-old Nguyen Canh Dinh, knowingly flaunt strict aviation rules.

On the afternoon of May 1, Dinh, a Vietnam Airlines passenger, lit up a cigarette in an airplane lavatory on a flight from Hanoi to Saigon, reports Thanh Nien.
When the fire alarm was set off, flight attendants entered the restroom where Dinh was puffing away on his cigarette.
Crew members attempted to make a report of the violation but Dinh initially refused to provide his personal information.
Once he was identified, presumably due to the fact that said information was readily available on the passenger manifest, he filled out a report in which he stated that he had seen the “No Smoking” sign, but he “just smoked a little bit,” wrote the paper.
Dinh was fined VND4 million out of a possible VND5 million for his actions.
