The most recent development in this project is their release of a third prototype. Building on the strengths of two previous models made of steel and then modular concrete, the latest version blends both materials into a more durable and flexible model for harsh tropical environments.
Most notably, this model, weighing in at 1,200 kilograms, can be assembled in 3 hours due to its modular components.
While this particular housing unit was developed for communities in the Mekong Delta, it is well suited for other areas in Asia that suffer from poor housing standards.
Many times, affordable housing runs into the roadblock of transport issues of building materials. The lightweight, modular nature of Vo Trong Nghia’s house eases these transportation limitations making housing not only affordable, but accessible as well.
