Saigon’s first river bus route is slowly taking shape as municipal officials aim to launch the service this month.
If you have driven by the Bach Dang Wharf in downtown Saigon recently, you probably noticed that the area is sectioned off for the construction of a river bus terminal for the city’s first-ever waterborne mass transport system.
Local officials announced plans for the river bus routes back in February this year: the first route, spanning 10.8 kilometers, will link the Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 with Linh Dong Ward in Thu Duc District, passing through several spots in Districts 1 and 2, as well as Binh Thanh and Thu Duc Districts. A map of the route with the planned station is available here.
It remains to be seen whether the route will be ready for its maiden voyage this month, but if these photos by VnExpress are any indication, several stops along the line are mostly finished.
