One of Vietnam’s major universities, the HCMC University of Social Sciences, has announced that it will start to teach some majors in English, effective immediately.
Tuoi Tre reports that the pilot program will be applied to departments including international relations, journalism-media, cultural studies, tourism, sociology, history and anthropology.
There have been concerns about the English abilities of Vietnamese university instructors in the past. To address this, Dr. Pham Tan Ha, head of the school’s training department, said, “The classes will be taught by instructors who graduated from overseas universities.”
Dr. Ha added that the university will apply the program to all majors by 2015.
