Family On Motorbike Crushed By Falling Tree In D1, Mother Fatally Wounded

36-year-old Nguyen Thi Dung died Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on her family’s motorbike due to fierce winds in downtown Saigon.

Dung, her husband and 2 children were traveling down Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in District 1 at around 3pm when the tree, 50cm in diameter, was uprooted and crashed down onto the road.

"Doctors at the Saigon General Hospital pronounced Dung dead at 4:30 p.m. as she succumbed to critical injuries. Her husband and children were also hurt and have been under treatment at the hospital,” according to Zing.

Yesterday’s strong winds and rain caused a number of trees to fall around the city.
