River Bus Routes Connecting D1 and D7 Approved by City Officials

City officials have approved two more river bus routes for Saigon's upcoming water-based public transportation system.

After announcing routes linking District 1 to District 8 and to Thu Duc District in February, authorities have now greenlit connections between the downtown area and District 7, VnExpress reports.

The newly approved routes will link Bach Dang Wharf in central District 1 to Phu Thuan Ward and to Phu My Hung, six kilometers to the southeast. According to the news outlet, the municipal transport and investment departments will submit the routes to the prime minister for final approval.

While there is no set timeline for the implementation of the District 7 water bus service, the system's first two routes are expected to start in June at a cost of US$5.3 million.
