How has Vietnam changed in the span of three decades, as seen through Google Earth?
Back in 2013, Google collaborated with NASA, TIME and the US Geological Survey (USGS) to create Google Earth Timelapse, a compilation of satellite imagery from 1984 to 2012, according to Arts Technica. Recently, the project was updated with "four additional years of imagery, petabytes of new data, and a sharper view of the Earth from 1984 to 2016."
In this set of time lapse images, courtesy of VnExpress, the effect of Vietnam’s rapid urbanization on its geographical features, from Hanoi to Saigon, is rather obvious.
