Are you ready to have the Totoro theme song stuck in your head for days on end?
The famed Japanese animation studio has unleashed 693 tracks spread across 38 albums on major music streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Google Play. Full albums from 28 films including Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service can be streamed along with 14 "image albums" that contain music inspired by some of the studio's most popular films, and a double collection of vocal songs from the studio’s movies.
News of the rollout has been circulating among international Ghibli fans for weeks, but it was only until recently that users in Vietnam could gain access to the full library on streaming services.
The only movies absent are Grave of the Fireflies, and the collaborative work, The Red Turtle, because the studio doesn't hold those rights, though both are available from other sources on Spotify.
Despite not having released a new movie since 2014, Studio Ghibli has been in the news with great frequency in recent months. In January, it was announced that 21 of their touching films would be arriving on Netflix over the first three months of the year. And last month ,more details emerged about their theme park, which is set to open in Japan in 2022.
Those overwhelmed by the sheer size of the Ghibli music drop should check out their curated "This is Studio Ghibli" playlist.
