Driver Tran Van Hoang might face up to fifteen years for killing one motorbike driver and seriously injuring four others.

On Tuesday, November 13, 43-year-old Tran Van Hoang's seven-seater vehicle was cruising down Nguyen Huu Tho Street in District 7 when Hoang lost control of the car and plowed into a handful of motorbikes at the crossroads of Nguyen Thi Thap Street, reports VnExpress.

Hoang claims that after he hit the first bike, he attempted to slam on the brakes but instead pressed the accelerator which led him into additional bikes, one of which became lodged under his car and was dragged for 30 meters. The carnage came to an end when he skidded off the road, over the sidewalk, down a slope and crashed into a divider.

Due to Hoang's reckless behavior, 33-year-old Mai Tan Nha died on the scene and four others were rushed to the hospital while Hoang fled. When he was apprehended, he tested negative for alcohol in his system.

The accident comes after a similar incident last month when a woman was driving under influence killed one and injured seven at the Hang Xanh Intersection.
