Tết decorations hung on the façade of District 1’s Majestic Hotel caught fire yesterday evening. Though hotel staff quickly extinguished the fire, the ensuing rush of emergency services resulted in heavy traffic in the area, reports Kenh 14.
One local cab driver postulated that the fire, which broke out at around 6pm, was the result of a short circuit of the decoration’s lighting system. Though that’s far from an expert opinion, it is a reasonable guess. Earlier this year, city authorities pointed to short circuits on similar signage as the culprit for numerous fires across the city.
