To the dismay of ballers across Saigon, a new decree from the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism will raise the fines for drinking liquor in karaoke rooms. So if you’re downing bottles of Hennessey whilst belting out Billy Jean, you’re looking at a VND3 million fine.
According to Tuoi Tre News, Karaoke establishments will also have to pay a fine if caught selling liquor (VND3-5 million) or allowing entry to inebriated customers (VND1-3 million).
If the degree is signed into law, it will go into effect on July 1, 2013. It’s currently being reviewed by other agencies and the public before being submitted for government approval.
On an unrelated note, we will no longer being going to karaoke rooms.
