If you felt a little chillier than usual on your ride to work this morning, you're not alone. It turns out Saigon – and the rest of southern Vietnam – is currently experiencing its coldest weather so far this year.
Of course, it's no wintertime in Sapa, but temperatures across the region are down around one to two degrees Celsius on average, reports Tuoi Tre. According to the country's southern hydrometeorology center, temperatures recently dropped as low as 18.5 degrees C in Dong Nai province's Long Khanh District, while places like Dong Thap province's capital, Cao Lanh, came in at a mere 21 degrees C, along with Saigon's Tan Binh and Nha Be Districts.
Though local weather expert Le Thi Xuan Lan forecast that the cold weather would end today before returning later in the week, it seems the winter chill is sticking around, as this morning's downtown temperature was a brisk 24 degrees C, a few degrees cooler than the city's average December temperature of 26, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
