Check Out Google's New 3D Rendering of Hong Kong

Have you ever sat at your computer on a slow-moving afternoon and wished you could see Hong Kong the way birds do?

Well, do we have news for you: thanks to the beautiful minds at Google Maps, you can now live your dream with a brand-new 3D rendering of downtown Hong Kong, available to experience from the comfort of your very own home.

According to tech website Venture Beat, this is a small part of Google's ongoing virtual reality push to bring the furthest corners of the earth to its users.

While the renderings aren't especially high-quality, it's still a pretty impressive experience. Take in Victoria Harbor from above or get up-close and personal, weaving your way through sky-high buildings or surveying the bustling neighborhoods of Kowloon.

“Hong Kong’s skyline is one of the most dramatic in the world, and with new 3D imagery on Google Maps and Google Earth, you can now swoop down over this magnificent harbour city and zigzag your way between the skyscrapers,” Google wrote on its blog. “So go on, put on your virtual wings and explore parts of the city you’ve never visited before.”

In case you need to be sold on the immersive experience of taking flight over Hong Kong, take a gander at the video below.
