Viettel to Launch New Luxury Smartphone Later This Year

Time to save up, Saigoneers: rumor has it that Viettel will launch a new luxury smartphone by the end of the year.

In the second half of 2017, Viettel will introduce the standard and premium versions of its own luxury, secure smartphone at a selling price of over US$1,000, according to VietnamNet.

The news source reports that the Android smartphone will be called the “Viettel Luxury Phone – Smartphone 4G”. Both versions are outfitted with leading security chips and anti-eavesdropping technology. The phone will automatically erase all data when its SIM card is removed, and users can also delete data remotely.

In addition, the premium version of the phone won’t feature WiFi connectivity or cameras in order to enhance security, according to a source on Tinhte. At the moment, the device’s technical specifications include the Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

A senior executive from Viettel claimed the new device would have a security level matching German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s current phone, reports VietnamNet.
