Saigon’s Thu Thiem Peninsula is getting another bridge.
According to Tuoi Tre, city authorities recently greenlit plans to construct a new bridge linking District 2’s Thu Thiem New Urban Area with District 7. The bridge, named Thu Thiem 4, will be built under the public-private partnership funding scheme.
If things go according to plan, Thu Thiem 4 will span 2,160 meters with six lanes for vehicle traffic. The city administration has earmarked about VND5.2 trillion for the project.
The exact location of the bridge's District 7 terminus is still under consideration.
This new infrastructure development is part of Saigon's grand scheme for the peninsula, which will eventually be connected to neighboring districts via five bridges and a tunnel. Two of these, the Thu Thiem Bridge 1 and the Thu Thiem Tunnel, have been in operation since 2010 and 2011, respectively.
