Last month was, without a doubt, the most extravagant (artistically speaking) in the past four years; Saigon was a theatre unto itself with a variety of art shows and exhibitions. Here are some of our favourite artworks, in no particular order, from each exhibition.

Phuong Quoc Tri is a self-taught artist and a sought-after portraiture painter. This body of work was presented during the very first live painting ever by the artist in Vietnam.

These photographs are inspired by the artist’s mother and in this particular image, Minh’s own photo is merged with one of her mother. Minh developed this project in a workshop in Singapore.

Prasert Yodkeaw is one of the upcoming Thai artists to follow. Through his works, he merges mythological elements and religious iconography from different heritages. One of the recurrent aspects of his work is to leave his pieces seemingly unfinished by layering charcoal sketches with oil drawings and by layering 3D objects onto his paintings and installations.
